What We Believe

The Bible is the inspired word of God (2 Timothy 3:16) and is our source of truth and authority.

The Lord desires His church to be united (John 17:19-21). Springboro Christian Church is a non-denominational church and recognizes Christ Jesus as the Head of His church (Ephesians 1:22-23).

The Lord desires all to know salvation (1 Timothy 2:4). God sent His Son, Jesus, to this world to make it possible for all to know salvation (John 3:16; 1 John 4:10).

Jesus lived a perfect life and willingly suffered death in order to be the atoning sacrifice for our sin. Jesus rose bodily from the tomb and ascended into heaven to be with His Father (Matthew 28:1-6; Acts 1:9; 1 Corinthians 15).

Everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23) and the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).

The Good News (Gospel) is that salvation (from sin and the penalty due sin) is available through God’s grace (Ephesians 2:8-10). Salvation comes through personal faith (belief and trust) in Christ Jesus. The Bible also explains a person is to have repentance from sin (Acts 2:38). Repentance is a “turn around” of one’s life. The focus changes from being focused on self to being focused on Christ and His will. A repentant believer is baptized (immersed into water) for the forgiveness of sin and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:12; 1 Peter 3:21-22). Salvation is not earned by good works, but is a gift of grace. Those who are in Christ reflect His love through their lives and good work. (Ephesians 2:10; Hebrews 13:16; James 2:17-18).

The Lord’s church is to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel to others (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:7-8; 1 Peter 2:9).

This brief overview of beliefs is not meant to be a “creed” or a complete list of beliefs. Our beliefs are based on the teaching of the Bible and there are many other “beliefs” that are not referenced above. Our goal is to pattern the Lord’s church according to the teaching of the New Testament.
